Apple blocks CoinbaseWallet users from sending NFTs
As per Coinbase’s latest tweets, users can't send NFTs on Coinbase Wallet iOS anymore. This is because Apple blocked the wallet’s last app release until the transfer feature is disabled.
Apple claims that the gas fees required to send NFTs must be paid through their In-App Purchase system so that they can collect 30% of the gas fee. The biggest impact of this policy change is on iPhone users that own NFTs - if you hold an NFT in a wallet on an iPhone, Apple just made it a lot harder to transfer that NFT to other wallets or gift it to friends or family.
Let’s see how Coinbase tackles this issue.
Bitcoin mining difficulty has dropped most since July 2021
According to Coindesk’s latest report, the difficulty of mining a bitcoin block fell by 7.32% this Tuesday, with miners powering off machines as a brutal bear market eats into profit.
The adjustment at block height 766,080 is the biggest downward change since July 2021, data from the mining pool BTC.com shows. That was when hordes of miners dropped off the network following China’s ban on the industry. The country was the world’s biggest bitcoin mining hub at the time.
Goldman Sachs looking to invest tens of millions in crypto
Goldman Sachs (GS), one of the world's largest investment banks, is looking to spend tens of millions of dollars on crypto firms whose valuations have been hit after the implosion of FTX, Reuters reported on Tuesday.
"We do see some really interesting opportunities, priced much more sensibly," Mathew McDermott, Goldman's head of digital assets, told Reuters. According to McDermott, Goldman sees an increased need for trustworthy players in the industry, which banks see as an opportunity.
